A+ Training LogoNYBI's A+ Training Program prepares individuals for work as PC technicians where they service, upgrade, install, assemble and maintain computers and peripheral equipment. Students practice techniques to assemble computers, analyze and repair malfunctions, and gain "hands-on" experience.

A+ Training PhotoTo become A+ certified, you have to pass two exams: 220-701 A+ Essentials Exam and 220-702 Practical Application Exam offered by CompTIA (Computer Technology Industry Association).
NYBI's A+ Training Program follows the specific objectives set by CompTIA for A+ Certification.

Lab 1: Computer Assembly/Disassembly

Upgrading / Repairing and Portable Computers

Lab 3: Installing, Configuring, and troubleshooting printers, video, audios
Network Systems

Lab 4: Network configuration, Internet connectivity, and computer hardware troubleshooting

Operating System Fundamentals and Microsoft Windows 98

Lab 5: Using the Control Panel, configuring the Windows Interface, and using DOS commands
Windows XP Professional

Lab 6: Installing Windows XP, using a Startup Disk and the Startup Menu

Session 7 Session 8
Managing and Maintaining the Windows Operating System

Lab 7: Using Windows XP system tools, data backup, optimizing performance
Security, Safety, Environmental Issues and Communication & Professionalism

Lab 8: Troubleshooting using resources on the Web. Restoring the Registry

Total: 4 weeks, 30 hours

Certification Exams

This course prepares students for the following exams:

Prerequisites

High School Diploma/ GED, and the entrance test or 2 months work experience.

Occupational Objectives

Upon completion of the course, students will be qualified to be an IT technician, Enterprise technician, PC technician, desktop support technician, field technician or PC support specialist.
