Unemployment Training
|
If you are unemployed and receiving unemployment benefits, The WCC (Worker Career Center) may be able to offer you a grant for up to 2500 dollars toward the tuition for courses taken at GT Solutions, Inc.
The process for obtaining this grant is as follows:
- Download the brochure from the GT Solutions web-site and decide on the courses and the dates you want to take the classes. WCC will approve up to 2500 dollars in assistance. (Call us if you need help)
- Contact a Worker Career Center of your choice from the following list and make an appointment to go see them to discuss the courses and the dates you want to take them.
- Call GT Solutions 212-922-0088 and discuss the courses that you want to take. We will write a letter to your counselor which we can e-mail or fax to you or you can come down to discuss with us in person.
- Present the letter to the counselor for approval. WCC will issue a voucher, which you need to bring with you on the first day of class. This approval process takes about 3-4 weeks so in general, you should choose courses that start at least 3 weeks from the application date.

If you are on unemployment benefits, you can become exempt from the requirement to seek work while training. Simply apply for the 599 Program at your local Department of Unemployment. Our course consists of seven hours of class instruction plus ten hours of lab instruction per week, which qualifies as unemployment training.
